The FGH possesses many years of experience in the field of electrical tests of medium- and high-voltage cables, as well as their accessories. Many of the high-voltage cables, in use worldwide, have been tested at the FGH Engineering & Test GmbH laboratories.
Outdoor cable test plant
Mainly type tests and prequalificationtests are implemented here. There's a possibility of feeding the cables above ground, underground or within pipes.
Load changing tests can be conducted with a continuous voltage of up to 500 kV and heating-current of 3.000 A, for the duration of one year, according to IEC 62067.
Tests with lightning impulse voltage of up to 3.500kV and switching impulse voltage of up to 2.200kV are possible.
Cable-laboratory
At our cable laboratory, we test cables, depending on their capacity, with the following maximum values:
• Lightning impulse voltage 1.800 kV
• Switching impulse voltage 1.300 kV
• Power-frequency voltage 1.200 kV
• Direct voltage 850 kV
• Partial discharge measurement 300 kV
• Measurement of capacitance 500 kV

As a test facility authorized by the VDE, we also conduct ageing tests on medium voltage cables

Conditioning in the water-bath at 55 ± 5 °C. |

Ageing over 1 or 2 years at 40 ± 5 °C at power frequency voltage.
